Indoor location for smoother logistics at the construction site

Ready

Ramirent tests location technology at a construction site that helps stay on top of the locations of lifters in the indoor areas of the site. Precise location data improves the efficiency of the use of the equipment.

What kind of problem is the project trying to solve?

Looking and waiting for equipment and the lack of information reduce the productivity of work at construction sites. Indoor location technology can help reduce the time spent looking, improve the usage capacity of the equipment and optimise the number and storage locations of machines.

Objective: Smooth operation of construction site equipment

The objective is to find technical solutions for locating equipment in the indoor areas of a construction site during construction and study the effects of the information it provides on the equipment management. Precise location information involves various benefits: the work progresses smoothly when information is available to anyone who needs it. It also allows a more precise optimisation of the equipment.

What is done in this project?

The technology of Kaltio Technologies Oy will be tested in locating Ramirent lifters in the indoor areas of an SRV construction site. The lifters at the site will be fitted with special positioning devices that allow the monitoring of the locations of the lifters indoors where GPS signal is not available. In addition, reference points will be installed to allow the positioning of the lifters. The location data will be collected by using a separate application and shown to anyone who needs them in the RamiSmart construction site portal. In the experimental project, the necessary precision of positioning, the need for optimising the equipment and technology required for the positioning will be established.

Who benefits?

Ramirent customer construction sites.
